Last week I left a comment on a blog as part of a yarn and pattern giveaway. And, guess what?!? I won! I just got my Barking Dog yarn today, and it’s a really cool spring-like green that I love!
So, now l have a new yarn to use for next week’s yarn along with Ginny. Be sure to check the end of this post to find out how you can win something too!
As for my cowl from last week… I’m pretending it’s just a couple skeins of yarn wound interestingly… Yep, I’m ripping out by knitting straight from the Honey Cowl into a different project. It’s easier on me this way.
I just wasn’t happy enough with how the Honey Cowl turned out using my Malabrigo yarn. It really surprised me that I didn’t like the cowl more, since I love both the yarn and the pattern… apparently not together though. I’m definitely going to try the Honey Cowl pattern with the Madelinetosh yarn next time.
So, moving on… the new cowl pattern I’m following is called the bertrand louis and I’m REALLY liking it. This pattern shows off the stitches so well and, as always, the Malabrigo yarn feels wonderful as I’m knitting.
Next up, I mentioned in the title of this post that I won something and that you can too! I was so excited when I learned I had won my little skein of yarn, that I decided I wanted to be able to do that for someone else. I love the color of your cowl. I had trouble with my Malabrigo (pollen) with the honey cowl as well. At least with mine, I just wasn’t liking the stitch definition. I don’t know if smaller needles would have helped or what. 🙂 stasiamb(at)gmail(dot)com

I totally agree with you on the stitch definition. It’s been strange, actually, seeing how totally different the stitches hold up with the louis bertrand pattern. The yarn actually looks smoother even though it’s clearly the exact same yarn. Weird.
As for the puppy… he’s pretty sure he’s the cutest too!

Thanks! The Malabrigo yarns always feel soooo nice. I think that’s part of the reason I don’t mind so much that I’m “getting” to use it twice because of my first project not turning out how I hoped.

Isn’t the color wonderful? And, yes, it just makes it easier on me emotionally to knit right from one to the other. That way I don’t feel the loss of the first project so much as the progress of the second.
I love the colour of the malabrigo … I love malabrigo in general. Congrats on the yarn score! The colour is so vibrant! And that dog is freaking adorable.
The dog also believes he’s “freaking adorable” and may be working it to try to get special privileges… like sleeping on the people bed!
And, yes, the malabrigo yarns are wonderful… that’s part of why it was so surprising to me that I didn’t absolutely love it when I knitted it up as the Honey Cowl. It’s great in the louis bertrand cowl, though, so I’m happy.
I have a thing for green and that Barking Dog yarn you got is awesome-sauce!!! I’d never thought of knitting straight to another project but it does make so much emotional sense. I have some baby pants that will never be more than half a pair of baby pants, I think I wait now until I know what to do with the yarn…

It’s kind of a two for one; I get it unraveled, but I get immediate gratification by knitting it right into something else! Perfect… almost as perfect as if I’d actually liked what I knitted to begin with! 😄
